Water, Water Everywhere! How Much Should You Drink?

“Hydrate: To supply water or liquid to maintain a healthy balance. To supply water to a person in order to restore or maintain a balance of fluids.”
dead cactus due to lack of water I cannot think of a single living organism that does not need some amount of moisture or hydration to thrive. (Even my poor cactus, may it rest in peace.)

The average human body is made up of about 70% water. Healthy blood is 90% water. Water is essential to life. A person can live for a few weeks without food. Without water a person will be dead within a few days.

When you get dehydrated your blood thickens, making it harder to carry off toxins. Without enough water you stand the risk of poor physical and mental performance, constipation and water retention (yup, if you don’t drink enough water your body will hang on to what it has thinking it isn’t going to get more!).

Drinking water helps the liver metabolize fat cells to energy. Without enough of it fat cells just stay fat cells.

water-the body's most important nutrient Water: The Body’s Most Important Nutrient is an important read.

The human body needs to be constantly rehydrated. If you wait until your mouth is dry, you have waited too long to take a drink.

The average person needs one quart of water per 50 pounds of body weight. If you are physically active you need even more.

Feel hungry? Try drinking a glass of water. Hunger pangs are often misinterpreted and are actually a sign of dehydration. Of course, sometimes you’re just hungry. In that case, eat some raw fruit or veggies. You will satisfy your hunger and rehydrate at the same time.

Do you get the munchies at midnight? Try drinking a glass of water instead of raiding the fridge.

A healthy diet, one in which the bulk of consumption is raw fruits and vegetable provides about 20% of the water you need. Some other fluids can provide a portion of what you need. However, if you drink alcohol, coffee, tea or sodas that contain caffeine you will increase your need for water. These drinks will act as a diuretic.

Don’t go to the vending machine for a soda! So where should you go? Are you going to the sink to get tap water? NO

Drink pure water.

If you are on a public water system your tap water may have contaminates such as chlorines, (cancer), chloramines (a combination of chlorine and ammonia), lead, arsenic (poison), and fluoride (more poisons).

If you drink tap water make sure you have a good water filter. If you buy bottled water check the source of the water. Some bottled waters are no more than tap water in a bottle. Some have other ingredients added.

Some bottlers feel they have to improve the taste of water. Leave it to Pepsi and Coke to try to improve one of Nature’s most perfect foods!

In 2004 we were without power following some of the storms that came through our portion of the beautiful state of Florida. We have a well so, no power, no water. In the aftermath of the storms there was water and ice distributed for those who needed it.

That was my first—and LAST—taste of Dasani water! It was horrible! Then I read the label. Sure enough, it had stuff added to it. Ugh! I like PURE water. I drink a lot of it. I start with water when I get up in the morning and sip all day. I carry a bottle of water everywhere I go.

Water helps to hydrate your “innards” and your “outards”. It helps to flush poisons from your body, keep your skin clearer, keep you regular, keep you healthy.

Spring water has natural minerals. Filtered water removes contaminates. Distilled water robs your body of essential minerals. So when you’re thirsty remember to….

Drink It Healthy! Drink water every day.
