Swine Flu: Possible Pandemic?
Swine flu (now being called H1N1) is the biggest thing in the news today. In my opinion the media hype is totally unwarranted. (The only people who should be concerned are those who have a seriously compromised immune system.) It’s not exactly like there’s nothing else worth reporting. I haven’t seen a slow news day in many months!
Some of the symptoms include:
Fever
Fatigue
coughing/sneezing/sore throat/runny nose (typical cold symptoms)
loss of appetite
nausea and vomiting
achiness
Read Dr. Mercola’s report on
swine flu
for a more comprehensive explanation of the flu and the dangers involved.
Though there are media threats of a pandemic it is far short of anything close to one at this point.
By taking the same precautions you would take during any flu season you can prevent or, at the very least, minimize symptoms.
Make sure that you have as strong an immune system as possible by:
Wash your hands regularly
Avoid exposure to sick people as much as possible
If you have symptoms, stay home and rest until you are well
Eat lots of fresh veggies and fruits
Avoid processed foods, especially white sugar
Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every day
Get 30 minutes of exercise at least five days a week.
Get plenty of
vitamin D
:Fifteen minutes a day of midday sun exposure plus a good vitamin D supplement.
Minimize stress as much as possible (learn to meditate daily).
If you do see a doctor for suspected swine flu make sure that you ask a lot of questions about the medicines she prescribes. There are serious side effects to the meds that the US government is stockpiling to treat this threat.
The side effects of the two most prescribes meds include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, cough—oh wait! Aren’t those the very symptoms we are trying to treat!?
Tamiflu and Relenza, heavily marketed by the pharmaceutical companies that produce them, each have possible serious side effects that may be as bad as the flu they are suppose to treat. Take at your own risk!
If your doctor prescribes these meds or suggests a flu shot ask him/her if they would take them or give them to their own family.
If you follow the guidelines on this site you are well on your way to a healthy immune system. Just use common sense and keep a cool head. Don’t stress over it (see above).
