Let’s Have a Pizza Party!
Who doesn’t like pizza? It’s easy to pick up the phone or order one on line. It’s delivered right to your table-uh-door. No fuss, no cooking. How convenient! But hold on to your purse strings! What did you just spend? $15 plus the tip? Ya gotta tip the delivery person! Have you seen the price of gas lately? Tip generously. After all, they just brought it to your table and they had to drive to get there! At this point the crust is soggy and the pie only so-so warm. And just what are the real ingredients on it? Pizza gets a bad rap as being unhealthy but it does not have to be so.
BETTER IDEA: Pull that all natural pie out of the freezer. You know, the one you brought home on your last shopping trip—the one with the whole grain crust. It cost, what? About five or six bucks? Add a little extra sauce or tomato sauce—it’s loaded with lycopene—chop some spinach, tomatoes and garlic and add some pineapple chunks. Sprinkle a little olive oil and low fat mozzarella and toss it in a preheated oven for about 20 minutes. Load your pie with a variety of veggies for nutrition and fiber. Avoid high fat additions like pepperoni and sausage and you have a very healthy Italian pie in the time it took to have one delivered, and at a fraction of the price! Healthy, homemade fast food on the cheap.
BEST IDEA:Make your own dough. It’s easy enough to do by hand or with a bread maker. There are quick and easy

that only take a little extra time.Get the family involved! The kids get some culinary experience and everyone gets to enjoy a delicious fresh, crispy, HOT pie. Congratulations! You just saved over $10 and served your family something ten times as healthy as “delivery”!
