Giving to Your Community is Very Rewarding in Many Ways

Community is a versatile word. The word was once used to denote only a local group of people with common goals in a central location. With the worldwide web and television broadcasts that “community” has become global. We are all connected in one way or another.

There are those who believe that we are all connected at the highest level.

I feel that it is important for us all to give back to our “community”, be it local or global.

Unless one has an endless supply of funds to “give back” to society a person must be a little choosy about whom they give those funds to. In the event that they do not have funds, some give of their time. Whichever you give just know that it comes back to you many times over.

I try to do a little of each and on this page I present my latest “pet projects”. They are very worthy causes and I ask that you take part in helping your global community.

My first and favorite “pet project” is the community Family Resource Center. The Resource Center works with families in need and provides comfort and resources to make these families feel safer, especially in these difficult economic times.

Our county presently has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country and there are families with children at risk.

I also support Big Brothers Big Sisters I have a donation page here to help these young people who need a mentor to help them stay on track. Please give what you can. I have set a small goal of $1200 to help these young folks. The national page for Big Brothers Big Sisters explains their program and how “Bigs” to “Littles” for mentoring.

My third “pet project” is the American Cancer Society’s Relay for life. Please give to a local chapter. Cancer research is important to saving many lives. Everyone has been touched in some way by this insidious disease. It is the number killer today.
